MEMORY
“The inability to return back to Ukraine at the moment made me re-examine my past, my old negatives, dating from 2017 to 2022. Longing for my native landscapes, people and everything that used to surround me remained in my memory and also in a physical form - on film, which is the only way I can once again very limitedly and really gently touch my past. Digging through the archive, I tried to find pictures that evoked in me some kind of flashy disturbing, but at the same time pleasant feelings, narrow-minded memories that, it would seem, I should have forgotten a long time ago, but I still remember thanks to these images. Using the technique of lith-printing on old soviet paper, I tried to achieve an effect by which I could demonstrate what my memory looks like, which projects different pictures in my head, to show how foggy and somewhat disturbing this human mechanism works. These images are my memory, only limited in paper size and film frames. Instead of trying to assemble the puzzle, I examined every piece of it. 68 images were made.”
