“It´s a project about portraiture. I decided , as a 23 year old, to photograph 23 year olds. As absurd as it may seem to think that age is a characteristic that can bind people together, this project takes it as a reason to photograph and maybe find kinship. I put a pamphlet with my number around the city, looking for 23 year olds. They took my number, and we agreed on a date for their photograph to be taken. We were 23, and at that moment it meant something.
I would go to their house and photograph them with a large format camera. I would always take their photo twice, with a 30 second difference. The intention is to animate the subject and reflect on youth as the in-between of two stages (between childhood and adulthood).”
